Is Thunder over Louisville the biggest fireworks display in the USA?  The world?

It is definitely one of the largest annual, recurring displays in the USA.  Other countries such as China, the Philippines and others likely routinely shoot larger displays.  This is not to take away from the grandeur of Thunder set to kick off this weekend with the usual air show and unbelievable fireworks set to music and choreographed by Zambelli Fireworks, who purchases some of their fireworks in China from a division of the Mad Ox Fireworks family.
